# Bind skills, tools, and knowledge bases

Bindings specify which resources an agent can use. Create resources and manage their credentials or content in Resource Center; manage their relationship with an assistant in agent details.

## Add a resource

1. Open the target agent's details.
2. Select **Add** in the skills, knowledge-base, or tools section.
3. Search for the resource. Use category filtering when the selector provides it.
4. Select resources and review the selected list. Existing bindings may already be selected; check both additions and removals before choosing **Done** or saving.
5. Return to details and verify resource names and counts. Start a new conversation to test actual use.

## Check each resource type

| Resource | Prepare before binding | Verify after binding |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Skill | Clear instructions, available status, and correct current version | Run a task that exercises the procedure |
| Knowledge base | Completed file processing and relevant content | Ask about a fact unique to the material and verify sources |
| Tool | Working connection and target-system permissions | Inspect the call record and actual external result |

## Unbind a resource

Use the target resource's action menu to unbind it, confirm, and inspect the resource list. Unbinding changes the relationship with this agent. To manage or delete the resource itself, return to its library. Check other agents that use a shared resource before changing it.

## Validate the binding

Confirm the resource in agent details, then request a task that actually requires it. A skill restricted to current user input may prevent retrieval even when a knowledge base is bound. Resolve conflicting requirements and test again.
