# Workflow Trigger

Start a specified version of another workflow and return the new task's identifier and initial status.

Use it to hand further processing to an independent workflow. To reuse steps within the current flow, use [Sub-workflow](sub-workflow.md).

## Configure the target

| Setting | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Workflow version | Required published version to execute |
| Task name | Required display name for the new run |
| `data` | Optional input data for the target workflow |
| `vars` | Optional run variables for the target workflow |

Supply `data` and `vars` according to the selected version's requirements.

## Use the output

`task_id` identifies the new task. When returned, `workflow_execution_id` identifies its execution record. Check `workflow_version_id` for the version. `status` is the initial status at creation.

The node returns after creating the task. Inspect the new task's run record for the target workflow's final status and results.

## Example: start a later indexing flow

Flow: Save to MOI Volume → Workflow Trigger.

Pass the saved file IDs in the input fields expected by the target version, provide a task name, and trigger it. Use the returned task identifier to inspect indexing progress.
