MatrixOne v26.4.2.2 Release Notes

Release Date: September 18, 2026 MatrixOne Version: v26.4.2.2 (v4.2.2)

MatrixOne v26.4.2.2 introduces two more foreign-data external-table engines (ENGINE = SQL|ESQL and ENGINE = KAFKA), per-row error reporting for file-backed external tables, the FULLTEXT2 full-text index engine, the SQL_TVF()/ESQL_TVF() table functions with session-cached foreign connections, LAST_KAFKA_MESSAGE_ID(), a mo_rollback_txn_on_error transaction-control variable, and structured error codes for Starlark procedures.

New Features

  • ENGINE = SQL|ESQL external tables: CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE ... ENGINE = SQL|ESQL maps a MatrixOne external table to a foreign SQL database or Elasticsearch ES|QL source whose rows are produced by a query text supplied at scan time through the hidden __mo_query column or the query table option. The config option carries the connection (or falls back to @sql_tvf_config/@esql_tvf_config), and pushdown (SQL only) lets the source apply predicates MatrixOne can render.

  • ENGINE = KAFKA external tables: CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE ... ENGINE = KAFKA maps a MatrixOne external table to one partition of an Apache Kafka topic, with brokers, topic, partition, autocommit, group, format, and separator options, per-message __mo_* metadata columns, and WHERE-driven read controls.

  • External table error mode: External Table Error Mode adds the hidden __mo_file_line, __mo_error_message, and __mo_error_text columns so a CSV or JSONLine scan can route good records and bad records into separate tables instead of failing on the first bad record.

  • FULLTEXT2 index: CREATE FULLTEXT2 INDEX builds a WAND positional full-text index with exact-phrase natural-language search, boolean and BM25 modes, the ngram, gojieba, json, and json_value parsers, and index options such as INCLUDE columns and AUTO_UPDATE cadence. It is gated behind experimental_fulltext2_index.

  • SQL_TVF() and ESQL_TVF(): SQL_TVF() and ESQL_TVF() query a foreign SQL database or Elasticsearch cluster from within a MatrixOne query. Foreign Connection Functions manage the per-session connection cache with a 16-connection limit.

  • LAST_KAFKA_MESSAGE_ID(): LAST_KAFKA_MESSAGE_ID() returns the offset of the last message a completed Kafka scan returned, enabling exactly-once consumption when fed back as __mo_read_start_id.

  • mo_rollback_txn_on_error: mo_rollback_txn_on_error opts a session into treating any statement error as fatal to the whole open transaction, instead of the MySQL default of rolling back only the failing statement.

  • Starlark procedure error codes: Starlark Procedure Error Reporting adds mo.errno() and mo.sqlstate() so a Starlark procedure can branch on a failed mo.sql() call’s error class instead of matching message text.

Behavior Changes

  • FULLTEXT2 relevance: the FULLTEXT2 engine defaults to BM25 ranking and is configurable with ft2_relevancy_algorithm (BM25 or TF-IDF).
