Use a connected agent

Once connected, you can have multi-turn conversations with an agent in your messaging app, send supported files, and receive replies and generated files. Open the corresponding agent conversation in MOI to review messages and results.

Start a conversation

  • Direct message: Send a message to the bot.

  • Group or channel: Mention the bot in a message. Replies return to that conversation rather than being broadcast to other groups.

Different group conversations and direct messages maintain their own current-session selections. People in the same group continue using that group’s current session. On platforms that support threads, continue in the task’s thread and check the current session after switching.

To inspect execution details, open the corresponding conversation in MOI. Processing notices and reply formats vary by messaging platform.

Send files to the agent

Send a document or image and explain what you want the agent to do. Supported file types, sizes, attachment counts, and download access depend on the platform and the connection’s permissions.

Check the reply to confirm that the file was received and processed. If the agent cannot read it, first check whether MOI received the message, then check file permissions and any reported error. Slack requires files:read; see Configure Slack.

Receive generated files

Agents can send generated files and images back to the conversation. Successfully delivered files can be viewed or downloaded in the messaging app. If delivery fails, open the corresponding MOI conversation to check the task result, then check the platform’s file permissions and limits. Sending files to Slack requires files:write.

Session commands

Send each command as a separate message. You can mention the bot before or after the command. Check its reply to confirm the result.

Command

Purpose

!moi list agent

Show the agent for the current conversation

!moi list session

Show the current session

!moi list sessions

List available session IDs and mark the current session

!moi new session [name]

Create a session and select it for the current conversation

!moi switch session <session-id>

Select a session by ID; !moi use session is an alias

!moi rename session <session-id> <new-name>

Rename a session by ID

First send !moi list sessions and copy the target session ID from the reply. If its ID is ctx_123, send this as a separate message:

!moi switch session ctx_123

Replace ctx_123 with the actual ID. Use the session ID rather than a list position or session name. After switching, send !moi list session to check the selection. Subsequent messages use the selected session.

Continue in MOI

Messaging conversations are associated with sessions in MOI. Open the same agent in MOI and find the corresponding conversation. Check the existing messages before continuing. If you created or switched sessions in the messaging app, use !moi list session to confirm its current ID.

Disconnect and enable again

  • Click Disconnect two-way messaging in the connection dialog and confirm to stop receiving new messages through that connection. Check the status of tasks for messages already received separately in MOI.

  • After enabling the connection again, send a test message and check the current session. To continue an existing session, list the session IDs and switch to the required one.

  • If message processing fails, check both the connection state and the task result. Restore the connection, correct its configuration, or submit the task again according to the reported error.
